The Showa retro coffee shop “Madura”, located on the first basement floor of the Osaka Ekimae Daiichi Building in Umeda, Osaka, was founded in 1947 and is a famous coffee shop in Osaka.

The local information magazine “Kansai Walker” said “Retro cute pure coffee shop”, so I came with a light glue saying “Hey! I’m interested!”, But when I actually went there, it was a long-established store rather than cute. Overwhelmed by the feeling. ..

Like Starbucks and Doutor, I felt like I couldn’t easily enter it, and said, “I’ve come to a great place …”, after a while at an angle of about 45 degrees from the entrance, I finally entered the store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

There were a lot of customers inside the store, so it was an exhibition photo that was outside the store, but it seemed like a theme park where you could travel back in time to the 70’s, beyond the realm of a coffee shop.

Even now, I entered the store in the same condition as the photo at that time, and while screaming “Oh … !!” alone in my heart, I sat on the sofa seat like a UFO disk in the middle of the store.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Suddenly there is a large mirror in front of and facing the front of the eye, unexpectedly and my Hello.
Looking up further, the ceiling has an elaborate design with the image of craters and stars!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Anyway, is it the pavilion of the Osaka Expo? The interior of the class was really amazing and I was completely suspicious from beginning to end.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

And I was surprised when I saw the menu to place an order.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It seems that the price has increased by 50 yen from the time of opening, but this price is exceptional in the location of Umeda and in this space.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I was screaming, “I think this amazing coffee is an artistic price …”, but I was betrayed in a good way.
(Well, coffee is 300 yen outside the shop, so I’m talking about seeing it properly, but I’m sweating.)<\/p>\n\n\n\n

I wanted to eat cake on this day, so a set of coffee and handmade cake 500 yen (tax included) I ordered.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Coffee has a modest sourness and bitterness. It was easy to drink and delicious.

The homemade cake (which was a cheesecake that day) was also delicious with a light taste and moderate sweetness.

By the way, “Mazura” started from the black market after the war with only 15 tsubo, and then moved to the current location of the Osaka Station No. 1 Building, which is about 100 tsubo in 1970 when the Osaka Expo was held, and it has 200 seats. I was surprised that the scale was bigger than I expected.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The name of the store comes from Madura Island, Indonesia, where the owner (the man in the photo above) traveled when he was a student.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This time I sat on the round sofa seat in the middle, but I think it would be nice to spend time looking over the entire store, so when I came next time, I wanted to sit at the table seat in the back.

Recently, it seems that pudding \u00e0 la mode has been revived for the first time in 30 years, so I think it must eat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
